Difference Between Single Married People Essay Today, there are a lot of significant numbers of people who are married and some are single. This has changed their lives and gives differences between their lives. In this essay, I am going to compare and contrast the differences between single people’s lives and married people’s lives in their lifestyle, companionship, and responsibility. Some things in life are going to be good, regardless of whether you are single or married, and some things will be the opposite. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The two areas that differ in married and single life are compromise and sharing of possessions. Lifestyle is the first difference between single and married people’s lives. Single people have much more privacy in their life. They are not bothered by anybody in their home. Nobody will demand that they sleep late, not watch movies too much and so on. And, single people can live a free life too. They can spend their time with their friends anywhere and anytime they want. In contrast, married people are bothered by their partner. They have to take care of their children and their partner. They cannot live a free life. If they want to go out with their friends, they must get permission from their partner first before they go. Married people are busier compared to single people, because married people have to take care of their children and their partner, unlike single people who do not have children and partner. Companionship is the next difference between single and married people’s lives. A husband depends on his wife, and a wife depends on her husband. Support is easily achieved from their partners, parents and their children, unlike single people who do not depend on anybody in this world. They cannot trust anyone to share their secrets and other important parts of their life except their parents. Support can be achieved only from their parents and their friends. They are also responsible for raising their children and guiding their families. If they cannot guide their family in the right way, their family can be broken and maybe ruined their lives. Married people are also responsible for managing their time. They have to spend their time with their children, husband or wife every day. In contrast, people who remain single do not have a schedule, they do not have any children or partners to guide and they are less responsible with their money and daily expenses. In conclusion, lifestyle, companionship, and responsibility are the three main differences between single people and married people’s lives. So is single life comfort and married life pleasure? Some people prefer to be single, others prefer marriage. Although there are reasonable advantages to both lifestyles, both lifestyles can be equally rewarding.

Gender Roles      While I was growing up, gender roles were highly defined by my parents and teachers as well as all other societal influences. Boys were taught to do 'boy' things and girls were taught to do 'girly' things. The toys that children play with and the activities that are encouraged by adults demonstrate the influence of gender roles on today's youth.      In my formative years, the masculine traits that I learned came out because of the activities that my parents had me engage in and the things that they expected from me. The expectations that my parents held for my sister, on the other hand, varied from those that they had for me, and this was made apparent through the different activities that occupied her time. My parents treated us in completely different regard. We had different toys, different friends, and we were supposed to like different things. When I got hurt my parents would say things like 'shake it off,' or 'that didn't hurt that much,' but when my sister would cry, they would give her attention and pull her aside to take care of her. I got into a lot more trouble throughout my life than my sister and this was, in part, overlooked as the boy's mischievous nature. I played with GI Joes and He-Man action figures, while my sister played with Barbie Dolls. I remember when she and I would play together and the GI Joes would be married to the Barbie Dolls. Gibb s and Kolb s Reflective model Essay
In this report I am going to evaluate the difference between Gibbs (1988) and Kolb (1984), drawing primarily on Gibbs’s reflective model. The Kolb cycle 1984 was published before Gibbs 1988, David A. Kolb published his conception after an experimental test on a book â€Å"Experience as the Source of learning and development†while Gibbs published his theory by developing on the existing Kolb cycle (ehow[07/10/2014]). Kolb’s theory is based on 4 cycles. It starts with doing something as an individual, a group of people or even a team in Kolb’s cycle you cannot learn while watching or reading you must do something to learn, then on the second stage you need to stop for a while review what happen and experience it and start asking question and communicate with other members of the group, abstract Conceptualization is the stage of understanding what happened and why it happened in this stage we need to know what we have done and what we know, the final stage we give time to plan if next time the experience happens what are we going to do and what action will be taken . To summarize Kolb is based on learning by doing things (simplypsychology [published 2010, updated 2013]) Figure 1: Kolb’s reflective cycle The Gibbs cycle is based on six stages. It starts with describing what happened, then asking what do you feel and thinking about this experience, then the third stage is evaluation (was the experience good or bad?), next it analyses what can you make from this situation or event then last but not least drawing a conclusion-what could you done differently in this situation? Finally, you must draw up some action plans in case it happens again what will you do. (qmu [7/10/2014]). Figure 2: Gibb’s cycle My preferred reflexive model is Gibbs, whose cycle provides further detail to reflections and also suggests following steps. Now lets demonstrate this model in relation to my first day at BCU. Description: It was my first day in the university BCU â€Å" Birmingham City University†on the induction day I get there on time to attend my first lecture. Although it was busy with lots of students and staff members it was a bit messy and it was a big university. Due to that, I was lost and I couldn’t find my lecture theatre, but luckily I asked the staff to show me where to go. I got there on time but it was badly organized and I was obliged to take the dark small stairs with lots of other student, some of them nearly fell down, as they couldn’t see the steps. When we got there it was a giant screen with lots of people waiting for the lecture to start. However, it wasn’t that interesting for the students who are originally from Birmingham. Then we were asked to leave on the back door, we where queuing for about 5 minutes to get out and go to the enrollment. In the enrollment it was also a long queue and we were asked to show our boarding passes. I saw on the boarding pass that I would need to provide my passport and my original diplomas so I asked the same lady that gave me my boarding pass as I didn’t have any of these documents since they had been taken by the university to extend my visa. She said it would be fine and just have a seat. I sat on the chairs and started moving from chair to chair for nearly two hours to get to the enrolment desk where I heard the bad news that I wouldn’t be able to enroll, as I need to bring other documents. After waiting for 2 hours all I received was ‘sorry you will need to come back tomorrow’. Feelings: I felt really disappointed and stressed on that day. These issues were beyond my control and it didn’t show off my future university in a good light. Evaluation: It was a good experience I meet new people exchanged ideas with them made new friends. However the bad point was I waited too long to enroll and in the end I didn’t achieve my aim. Analyses: Upon further analysis, it is fair to suggest that the cause of the problem lies in a misunderstanding between BCU in Millennium point and Perry Barr. The lack of communication between both campuses meant staff did not know I didn’t have either my passport or any original documents. Although members of staff were helpful, this problem could have been resolved elsewhere. Conclusions and action plans: In this situation I suggest that they will be more organized and more welcoming, Next time I will try to be there earlier to avoid waiting in the long queue. I Stand Here Against the Government The Allegorical...
â€Å"I Stand Here Ironing†is almost a mirror story of author Tillie Olsen. Like the narrator she wrote, Olsen also was abandoned by her husband after their first child and later remarried and had more children. Being a mother caused her to put aside her career (writing), which happens to be the opposite of the narrator, who put aside being a mother to be a woman who took care of â€Å"womanly†duties around the home. Olsen also uses this story to attack the government by writing how the narrator struggled to fend for herself and her child when they received no governmental help. She also used the narrator’s daughter, Emily, to show what happens when the government does not help their people. This is why I believe that in â€Å"I Stand Here Ironing,††¦show more content†¦When she finally saved up enough money to bring Emily back, her daughter got sick with the chicken pox and had to stay away longer. When she finally went back to her mother, she hardly recognized Emily anymore. The time spent away from each other left a hole in their bond, which wouldn’t have resulted if the government was more helpful. Bad luck followed Emily throughout her childhood and gave her red measles and, eventually, tuberculosis which caused the narrator to send her daughter to a convalescent home because the government would not help her afford the care Emily needed. The home only allowed visitation twice a month and screened the letters going out, so the narrator’s interaction with her child was limited and overall hurtful for Emily’s growth. The home did little to help Emily, besides allow her to gain a few pounds, it instead made her fear physical interactions and strengthen her habitat of not eating. The narrator tried to help Emily, but it was a difficult task with the other children and work to do around the house. When the government finally tried to help, it was too late for Emily. We can assume that the story we a re reading is the conversation the narrator is having with a social worker, who is trying to help Emily. Their conversation presumably ends when their narrator asks the social worker to let Emily be. She summarizes what has happened to Emily and believes that there is nothing that the government can do to help her now. The
